But there are also disadvantages to keeping a pet in the cab. Making sure your pet stays healthy in the first place should be a priority. Also, you need to be prepared for the worst-case scenario. If for some reason you suddenly lose your job and find yourself stranded somewhere, you're going to have a hard time getting both yourself and your pet back home unless you can afford to pay a lot money for transportation. You'll also need to make sure your pet stays clean and doesn't do its business in the cab; however, most pets should learn to adjust to a schedule.

Many truckers love having pets as traveling companions. For them, the rewards far outweigh whatever the disadvantages are.
