Truckers Can Exercise Too

Spending your days cooped up inside of a truck on the road means that you will likely be living a sedentary lifestyle. Recent reports has shown that truckers are at a greater risk for obesity, heart attacks, strokes, and other health ailments due to their life spent on the road. Due to this information, more and more truckers are trying to find a way to exercise while working. Since many truckers are on the road for weeks at a time, exercise may be difficult – though it is not impossible.

The down time that truckers have is usually spent sleeping. Since it is extremely tough to drive for hours straight, sleep is the one thing that many truckers never get enough of. Of course, exercising without any sleep is a nearly impossible feat. Therefore, it is important that you get enough sleep before you even consider embarking upon an exercise routine. Once you have gained an adequate amount of sleep, think about the fact that you have legs. Sound funny? Well, most truckers tend to forget that they have a mode of transportation all their own – legs.

If you take the time to walk around any given town for a few hours, you will find that your health drastically improves. If you find that walking is not enough, you may be able to keep running shoes and clothes inside of your cab, so that you can run when you have a few extra hours. Depending upon the size of your truck, you can also transport weights and other piece of exercise equipment for use while inside of your cab. The idea here is to keep your exercise routine simple, and take to the outdoors rather than a gym. The world is a fascinating place to explore, so get out there (on your feet) and start enjoying it.
